Abstract — High quality glass tubing production relies on tightly controlled manufacturing processes. With the addition of a Reference Signal Generator (RSG), the OptiGauge II can aid the control of the straightness of the tube by measuring its bow.
Lumetrics’ low coherence interferometer, commercially marketed as the OptiGauge® II, is a device capable of measuring tubing wall thickness, inner diameter, outer diameter, and bow with sub-micron precision. Combined with custom software and a precision rotation adjustment stage, a tube can be characterized in terms of wall thickness, ID, OD, bow, concentricity, and ovality during both the incoming material inspection and outgoing product quality control.
