Press Release: Lumetrics to Showcase ATMS II and Leading Edge Eye Measurement System at Upcoming Medical Design & Manufacturing West Tradeshow

Lumetrics to Showcase ATMS II and Leading Edge Eye Measurement System at Upcoming Medical Design & Manufacturing West Tradeshow

ROCHESTER, N.Y., November 23, 2010 — Lumetrics, a leading manufacturer of world-class precision thickness measurement technology, will showcase its Automated Tubing Measurement System (ATMS II) and its Axial Length Eye Measurement System at the Medical Design & Manufacturing West tradeshow held in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Center on February 8 to 10.

Lumetrics will demonstrate its ATMS II OptiGauge system, a fully automated, non-contact thickness measurement gauge for long-length medical tubing and balloons up to 36 inches in length. The system simultaneously measures inside diameter, outside diameter, wall thickness, concentricity, and ovality of the medical devices. The system can be installed on a production line or used in the QA lab post production. ATMS II has the capability to measure at a rate of 50 times per second with an accuracy of 1/10th of a micron. With the data derived from ATMS II you can achieve higher quality products, reduce costs and inspection time, and ultimately reduce risk and improve customer satisfaction.

Custom sample measurements for companies interested in the OptiGauge as a solution for its thickness measurement needs will be available at the Lumetrics booth (#1948) to exhibit how the system works for a specific product.

Lumetrics’ Axial Length Measurement, a high speed fiber-optic system for measuring the axial dimensions of a human eye, will also be discussed at the tradeshow. With the U.S. population of over 65 year olds expected to be reach 70 million in 2030, and world populations increasing at a similar rate, there is a dramatic need for tools to treat the wave of eye diseases and problems expected with that population. Information about the structure of the eye is required in surgeries that treat eye diseases and the replacement of the crystalline lens. Axial Length Measurement will become a critical tool in mapping the eye for both research and treatment of eye diseases.  For additional information on Lumetrics' Axial Length Measurement, please contact Todd Blalock at 585-214-2455 x109 or e-mail tblalock@lumetrics.com
