Light weight and flexible, up to 8 probes can be multiplexed to a single system to provide measurement throughout a plant.
Components
The OptiGauge system consists of four elements:
- Optical Measurement Probe
The probe is a critical part of the OptiGauge system, providing infrared illumination and detection of individual layers of material being measured. It is connected to the OptiGauge via a telecom-grade optical fiber and is intrinsically safe for use in a wide variety of operating environments.
- Fixtures and mounting hardware for the OptiGauge probe can be fashioned to fit any customer requirement from specialized laboratory inspection systems to complex production machinery.
- Non-contact measurement, probe has a working standoff distance of 2"
- Multiple probes can be connected to OptiGauge with Lumetrics multiplexers
- 20 micron wide spot measurement size
- Telecom-grade optical fiber: probes can be positioned up to 1,000M from OptiGauge
- Eye-safe: Class 1 IR diode does not require special safety handling measures
- Lightweight and rugged: weighs 2.5 ounces, environmentally sealed and vibration-resistant

- DI-340 OptiGauge
- The OptiGauge contains light-emitting diodes and optical fiber components that capture and process reflective information from test material. The patented technology was originally developed by Eastman Kodak and has been optimized for industrial measurement and gauging across a range of industries. The Control Module sends raw data to the computer for signal processing and thickness computation.

OptiGauge Control Unit
The controller contains analog-to-digital conversion hardware and processing algorithms that generate a range of measurement and data outputs that can be used for local viewing or integrated into a plant control or supervisory system.

- Application Software
The OptiGauge comes with standard processing, logging, and analytical software that gives users an easy and intuitive way to measure, record, and perform statistical analysis of results.
- Lumetrics can also write custom software applications that will fit all user needs, from QA inspection packages to automated tubing and flat stock monitoring software to sophisticated packages that integrate OptiGauge into plant logic control and SCADA systems, including data loggers, accept/reject decision trees, tolerance alarms, and advanced machine controls.
